Jeysa Martinez practices in the areas of corporate and commercial law, with a focus on banking and financial services, commercial financing, and secured transactions. Ms. Martinez represents financial institutions and corporate clients in a wide variety of matters. She has extensive experience in corporate reorganizations and acquisitions, sales of business and commercial real estate, as well as negotiating and drafting complex documents, and the structuring of security. In addition, she is well-versed in financing transactions involving First Nations for On and Off Reserve developments.

Her experience includes financings on behalf of lenders and borrowers, corporate reorganizations, securitization of assets in debt and private equity transactions, conducting and coordinating due diligence, as well as advising lenders and borrowers on project finance and secured lending.

Ms. Martinez also brings to the firm significant experience in commercial leasing transactions, including leases and subleases on First Nations lands, and leasing of property for the purposes of facilitating solar and wind energy projects.

Prior to joining SZK, Ms. Martinez practised law at a global firm, a well-established national firm and as in-house-counsel at Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation.

When not practicing law, Jeysa enjoys travelling, spending time with her family at the cottage, gardening, golfing, and shares her daughter’s passion for live theater.
